WHALE SHARKS

Whale sharks are Ningaloo and Exmouth’s most iconic marine creature. Every year thousands travel 1200km north of Perth to the region, to swim with these majestic creatures. Despite being a shark, they are gentle giants which feed on plankton, krill and larvae. Whale sharks are still a bit of a mystery, with more research needed to find out how significant they are to our ocean’s ecosystems.
